Grey Troops at Blue Mountain is the title of a feature article that is in the Winter 2014 edition of Alabama Heritage. The article focuses on the importance of the Confederate supply depot and training camp that was located at the terminus of the Alabama & Tennessee Rivers Railroad located at Blue Mountain (now Anniston) in Calhoun County, Alabama. There is an effort underway to try and preserve several acres for a park. Hopefully, the preservation effort will be a success. Many people, especially those whose ancestors camped at the location, are interested in visiting the place. The entire Army of Tennessee fell back to this location after its defeat at Atlanta. The boys who fought the battles of Franklin and Nashville were here. Some of them wrote their last letters home from Blue Mountain.
