"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself . . . and spiders." This is a quote on a sweatshirt that was given to me as a gift, and seems to fit me perfectly. I have a story in Hollers From The Hollows about me getting tangled up in the webs of orb spiders - on two occasions. You'd think after the first encounter I would have learned to look out for them. I act out my attempts to free myself from the lairs, and the audience bursts out laughing (as they are supposed to). My storytelling group now refers to me as Dances With Spiders. Smart alecks. It's all fun and games until you have a fat orb monster crawling up your face and into your hair. Web on face and spider on head equals sheer terror. Sheer terror!
