The Story's The Thing

Greg, like many writers, believes a good story that is crafted and presented well will hold the attention of the reader/listener.  Stories have the power to entertain, enlighten, uplift and inspire.  It is the duty of the teller to polish and present them at their very best.

Greg has always had a passion for writing, but has only been telling stories orally for a couple of years.  He was invited to spin a yarn at Desoto State Park's Halloween celebration, Spookapalooza, in 2011.  Though he had minored in speech communication at Alabama (while majoring in broadcasting), he was hesitant to stand up in front of a live audience again.  It had been twenty years since he had delivered a presentation.  The task was daunting.  Nevertheless, he told a story about his terrifying encounters of being tangled up in the web of orb spiders - Orb Monsters he calls them.  The audience loved it!  He is now referred to by his storytelling group as "Dances With Spiders".

Along with being invited back to Spookapalooza, Greg has told at the International Tellabration event, Canyon Fest at the Little River Canyon Center in Fort Payne, Alabama, the Talladega, Alabama, Public Library's Brown Bag Lunch special program and at the Fort Payne Halloween Block Party.  He has also been invited to speak at numerous historical societies' meetings, explaining the significance of his writings about little-known but vitally-important people and places during the American Civil War.

Greg tells ghost stories, humorous tales and history stories - often combining them.  His current fee for speaking is $50.00 per half hour, plus mileage (and lodging, if applicable).  If interested in having Greg speak at your event, please contact him via email or though his Contact Page.
